Horse Creek Mary lived on the Chitina Trail and was the last link between our area and the Russian occupation. Small in stature, Horse Creek Mary was well known for her physical strength and stamina. Read more about Horse Creek Mary in Copper Tints, available in the museum's online store.

Matrona Chimovisky Tiedeman, daughter of chief Makarka Chimovisky. The Chimoviskys were Aleut & Chugach. Both Matrona and her father served as interpreters for anthropologist Fredericka De Laguna.
